Episcia ‘Silver Skies’ is closely related to African violets. They are known for their velvety, silver-patterned leaves. This plant makes a stunning statement. Episcia ‘Silver Skies’ also produces small, trumpet-shaped flowers in shades of red, pink, or orange, adding a pop of colour.

With its unique appearance and compact growth, it’s perfect for tabletops, shelves, or terrariums where it can show off its velvety silver leaves and vibrant flowers.

Where do I come from?

I am native to Central and South America.

Light

They thrives in bright, indirect light but can tolerate medium light conditions.

Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves and fade the silvery pattern.

Too little light may cause the plant to grow leggy and flower less.

Water

Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged.

Avoid getting water on the leaves to prevent leaf spots; bottom watering is ideal.

Humidity

Prefers high humidity (50-60%).

Regular misting, a humidity tray, or placing it near a humidifier can help keep moisture levels up.

Avoid dry air, as it can cause leaf edges to brown and hinder flower production.

Temperature

The ideal temperature range is between 18-27°C.

Keep away from temperatures below 15°C and cold drafts.

Soil

Use a well-draining, African violet specific potting mix.

Ensure the pot has drainage holes to prevent water from accumulating at the roots.

Fertilization

Feed with a balanced, diluted liquid fertilizer every 2-4 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer).

Reduce fertilization in fall and winter when the plant's growth slows.

Repotting

Repot every 1-2 years in fresh soil, or when it outgrows its current pot.

Use a pot only slightly larger to prevent water retention.

Pruning

Trim back leggy growth to encourage a fuller appearance.

What size am I?

I come in a 8cm pot.
