Oxalis Triangularis, commonly known as the 'Purple Shamrock,' is a charming indoor plant loved for its striking triangular leaves that come in various shades of purple. It typically grows low to the ground and produces delicate pink or white flowers in the right conditions.
Where do I come from?
I am native to South America.
Light
Place your Purple Shamrock in bright, indirect light. It can tolerate some direct sunlight, but avoid prolonged exposure to prevent leaf scorching.
Watering
Keep the soil evenly moist but not soggy. Water thoroughly when the top inch of soil feels dry, and ensure good drainage to prevent root rot.
Temperature
Maintain moderate room temperatures between 15-24°C. Avoid placing it near drafts or heat sources.
Humidity
Provide moderate to high humidity by misting the plant or placing a tray of water with pebbles underneath the pot.
Fertilisation
Feed your Purple Shamrock monthly during the growing season (spring and summer) with a balanced liquid fertiliser diluted to half strength.
Repotting
Repot the plant annually in the spring to refresh the soil and provide more space for growth.
Dormancy
Purple Shamrocks may go dormant in winter, during which they may lose their leaves. Reduce watering and stop fertilizing during this period. They will regrow when conditions improve in spring.
