Where do I come from?
I am native to South America
Light
Prefers bright, indirect light to maintain its vibrant variegation.
Too much direct sunlight can scorch the leaves, while too little light can cause the variegation to fade.
Water
Water when the top inch of soil feels dry to the touch.
Be cautious not to overwater, as this can lead to root rot. Ensure the pot has good drainage.
In the winter, reduce watering frequency, as the plant's growth slows down.
Humidity
Prefers moderate to high humidity (50-60% or higher).
Misting, a humidity tray, or a humidifier can help maintain moisture, especially in dry indoor conditions.
If the air is too dry, the edges of the leaves may start to brown.
Temperature
Ideal temperature range: 18-27°C.
Avoid temperatures below 10°C and protect from cold drafts.
Soil
Use a well-draining potting mix.
Fertilization
Feed with a balanced, diluted liquid fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer).
Cut back on fertilization during the fall and winter when growth slows.
Repotting
Repot every 1-2 years or when the plant becomes root-bound to refresh the soil and allow for continued growth.
Pruning
Trim any yellowing or damaged leaves to maintain the plant’s appearance.
Regular pruning can also help maintain its shape and promote bushier growth.
Propagation
Propagate via stem cuttings. Cut just below a node, making sure the cutting has at least one leaf and a node.
Place cuttings in water or directly in moist soil, and wait for roots to form. Keep in bright, indirect light during the rooting process.
